Many
accomplished athletes and film stars are content with shamelessly showing off
their trophy cabinet to guests. Some going to near-crazy lengths. Just ask one
of, if not, the best footballer of all time, Cristiano Ronaldo, who alongside
best friend Miguel Paixão, designed an entire museum dedicated to a lifetime
worth of sporting achievement.
Can
you blame him though? No. He boasts countless records and an estimated 170
accolades ranging from Champion’s League and domestic league triumphs to
multiple Golden Boot and Ballon d’Ors.
Kicking
off in Portugal earlier in the summer, the travelling CR7 Museum has recently
hit the pedestrian-friendly streets of the Jumeirah Beach Residence for its
Dubai Edition. Shrine-like in essence, fans and visitors can now marvel at
Ronaldo’s accolades as well as a 800kg wax replica of the man, and be in
touching distance of the historical silverware and never-before-seen
memorabilia dating back to the Portuguese international’s humble origins. If
you’re a fan, then this is heaven and Ronaldo is god.
Expansions
for the main museum in his hometown any time soon appear unlikely after
seasonal performances are in favour of rival Lionel Messi, recently awarded
best player of the year at the Dubai Global Soccer Awards, deeming the
Argentine as 2015 Ballon D’or winner.
